From all indications the biggest problem most people have it they don’t think they should have problems. From my side of the desk, the higher someone’s income level the less pervasive this problem seems to be. Problems are a fact of life. The ability to solve problems is typically more mindset than anything else. By the way…The only group of people without any problems reside in cemeteries!
A problem solving mindset increases with the importance, time sensitivity and potential cost of the problem. Power shutoffs are in the news lately. If you live in an impacted area and rely on electrically powered medical equipment the reality may be not solving the problem could lead to death. The solution to the problem is now critical. The solution is more important than anything and you’ll find a solution!
I work with people who demand solutions to problems. This encompasses everything from business to personal issues… they impact one another. Unsolved business problems tend to go home and enturbulate the personal portion of your life. Unsolved personal issues tend to go into the work place and end up being revenue killers. When you focus on personal issues at work something is bound to fall between the cracks.
What problem do you currently have you think you shouldn’t? What have you done to solve it? What else have you done to solve it? How’s that working for you? What’s the cost of keeping the problem? What’s the cost of solving the problem? Measure those costs in actual dollars. Now write down on paper the long term cost of solving the problem and the long term cost of keeping the problem?
